URGENT REGARDING SITE RULES:

It seems there are some confusion concerning phoning open and closed to Virginia ATC 031 563 4213 AND 15Squaddron AFB Durban 031 450 4712 BEFORE flying.
I phoned a few senior pilots including past and recent DPC chairpersons, basically the custodians of the site. At the end it was decided as mentioned on this and the other group more than a year ago, that we keep to a simple "gentleman's agreement" to avoid conflict and misunderstandings.
Site rules and mention of the following can also be found on DPC web page, as well as DPC facebook page.
1) The first person to take out and set up his kit on launch are primarily responsible to Phone open. The simple reason is that those that arrive after you, have no clue, if you have flown already, or planning to launch shortly. So it's not the first to arrive, but the first to show flying intent, by rigging, or setting up flying gear.
Once you are strapped in it is to late, as you will be busy doing your checks.
2) Everybody else that arrives, may not assume that the others have done it, and it is responsible and polite, just to ask the others if they phoned open.
3) If a person did not phone open by making wrong assumptions, then please don't start hostilities, but phone open yourself, and politely remind that person that he forgot, and encourage him to remember next time.
4) Regarding phoning closed, the last person to fold up his wing/de-rig HG. The others don't know if you want to fly again or not if your kit is still open, and may leave without phoning.
These rules applies for PG AND HG pilots.
